Australia’s rich environmental diversity is dotted with stunning destinations spread out across the country but with most of the top destinations at least a day’s drive or more from each other, getting an RV hire is one of the best ways to get around.

From the colourful corals at the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns, the stunning views of the Blue Mountains near Sydney and the breathtaking veiws from the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne or Adelaide, driving is definitely a big part of experiencing Australia.

One of the best things about this form of travel is that there are a wide range of RV rental options and prices, so whether you are on a tight budget or looking for the best that money can buy, there will be an option that suits your needs. Other benefits include:

  • Options to hire an RV from one location and return at another
  • Cheaper accommodation; and
  • Flexibility to travel where you want, when you want

Plus the range of different companies that provide campervans and other vehicles means that you can compare different options to find one that suits your travel plans. That way you will have as much freedom as you want when you get on the road.

RV Hire Rules

When you are considering hiring an RV it is important to look at the different hiring rules and road considerations. Some vehicles will have a minimum rental period and require all RVs to be returned on time. Others, like Britz and Maui, may offer grace periods for returns, but it is important to check the terms and conditions so that you know exactly what process you need to go through.

Most of the motorhomes and other larger vehicles available for hire will also require a driver that is at least 21 years of age and carrying a full license from their country of origin. This information will be needed before an RV can be checked out, so make sure you have all your paperwork in order to avoid delays.

Driving in Australia also means following the local road rules, like driving on the left-hand side of the road and wearing seatbelts at all times, and with a hired RV it also means following the rental terms and conditions. But once you have a good understanding of these rules you will be able to go wherever you want and see as much of Australia as possible.
