Kea is one of the youngest rental vehicle fleets in Australia which is famous for its modern, young vehicles that are a maximum of 2.5 years old. The specialty of Kea is that they manufacture all their campervans and motor homes in Australia and New Zealand which proves that their vehicles are incorporated with the latest technology and design concepts.
Another specialty of Kea vehicles is that they use different base vehicles for their campervans. The base of their smallest Kea campervan is the Volkswagen T5 diesel vehicle and not a Toyota petrol van while their larger vehicles are based on the Toyota Landcruiser. The smaller campervans run on diesel, which considerably reduces your fuel costs.
Review of Kea Vehicles
Kea small vehicles have a different design, the Trakka style that comes with an angled pop top and not a full one. The vehicle has swiveling front seats, a 901 bar fridge, storage space at the back, a special ‘off-angle’ table and water tanks. In addition to all this, these vehicles harness solar power, have a 12v house battery, a 240v socket, a kitchen sink, internal cooking facilities and auto transmission.
However the drawback is its price; which means that Kea is meant for those looking for luxury, and not actually a budget campervan. Kea campervans are luxurious, where even the 2 berths have shower/toilet facility and the facilities increase with the size of the vehicle.
Their larger, 4WD vehicles have practically everything you will need for a luxurious and comfortable ride on the campervan. So if you looking for luxury, and budget is not a concern for you, Kea is definitely the place to look.
Also, if you are heading across the ditch and need Bay of Islands accommodation, you might want to stay at the lovely Tapeka Del Mar. Look it up, you'll be impressed. It's a self contained 4.5 star beach house that sleeps up to 13 guests.
